Kurt Hugo Schneider was born on September 7th, 1988 in Baltimore, Maryland. While growing up in Philadelphia, Schneider met singer Sam Tsui in high school, with whom he would later collaborate. The son of mathematician Michael Schneider and artist Laurie Auth, Schneider attended Yale University, graduating Magna Cum Laud in 2010 and playing chess at a high level. Kurt began uploading videos to YouTube in 2007, and began to gain prominence in 2010 for his musical composition and production. His rise to fame as a self taught musician and YouTube was the result of exceptional remixes of famous songs, particularly his Michael Jackson medley. Along with creating his own work, he has often collaborated with other famous online performers, including childhood friend Sam Tsui.

Schneider has appeared on both The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show since 2010. In 2013, Schneider collaborated with Coca-Cola on their music video advertisement campaign, and in 2014 released an independent film College Musical: The Movie.
