Kirk Franklin

Kirk Franklin was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 26, 1970. His first appearance in the music scene was as part of the Kirk Franklin & The Family. A self-titled debut album was released in 1993 and the record topped the Gospel Albums chart.

Franklin won his first Grammy award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel album for Whatcha Lookin’ 4 in 1996. His first performance in the Grammy stage was in 1999. In 2011, Hello Fear won the Grammy award for Best Gospel Song and Best Gospel album.

He is one of the featured artists on Chance the Rapper’s 2016 single “Finish Line/Drown” which also features T-Pain, Eryn Allen Kane, and Noname. In 2018, his song “Never Alone” won the Grammy for Best Gospel Performance/Song.
