Killswitch Engage

Killswitch Engage

Coming from Westfield, Massachusetts, Killswitch Engage is a metalcore band found in 1999. The roots of the band came from Overcast and Aftershock. By the time the band was formed, they already had a huge fan base coming from the two original bands. Mike D’ Antonio of Overcast connected with Aftershock’s Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel. They then invited over Jesse Leach to form the new Killswitch Engage.

Their debut was made by opening for the In Flames. After which they were invited to sign under Ferret releasing their self-titled debut in 2000. In 2001, they recorded “Numbered Days.” That same year, they signed for Roadrunner Records which released their second album “Alive or Just Breathing.” They had an additional member, Tom Gomes, who were once a member of Aftershock. Then Leach left the group and was replaced Howard Jones, a vocalist for “Blood Has Been Shed.” In 2003, Gomes left and was replaced by Justin Foley.
