Part of the hip-hop group Odd Future, Earl Sweatshirt was born Thebe Neruda Kgositsile on February 24, 1994, in Los Angeles, California. He was creating and uploading music to his Myspace account when he was found by hip-hop artist Tyler the Creator. In 2010, Earl Sweatshirt released his debut album Earl, the majority of which Tyler the Creator produced, and the album was eventually named #24 on the list of the year’s best albums by Complex Magazine. He also contributed to the album The OF Tape Vol. 2 with his song “Oldie”, and in 2012, he provided guest vocals on Frank Ocean’s song “Super Rich Kids”. 2013 saw the release of his second album, titled Doris, which went to #5 on the Billboard 200 as well as to #1 on the US Top Rap Albums chart. That same year, he was nominated at the BET Hip Hop Awards as Rookie of the Year.
