Blackpink is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment in Seoul, South Korea in 2016. The group consists of Jisoo, Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé. On August 8, 2016 they released their debut EP Square Up that contained the song “Whistle”,  that was their first number-one song in South Korea, and the song “Boombayah”, which was their first number-one hit on the Billboard World Digital Song chart. As of 2018, they are the highest-charting female K-pop group on Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200. Their music video for the song “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” was the most-viewed music video in 24 hours on YouTube and in 2019 became the most viewed music video by a K-pop group. In 2018 they released their debut full-length album Blackpink in Your Area and that same year collaborated with the popular singer and songwriter Dua Lipa for the song “Kiss and Make Up.” They made their American debut in 2019 at Universal Music Group’s 2019 Grammy Artist Showcase that took place at ROW in Downtown Los Angeles.
