Anthony Barr

Anthony Barr is an American football player born in South Bend, Indiana on March 18, 1992. He is currently an outside linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. He attended high school in Los Angeles at Loyola High School, where he was a letterman in football and track. He played college football on a sports scholarship at the University of California, Los Angeles from 2010 to 2013. Barr played his first two years of college football as a running back, wide receiver, and tight end, but prior to his junior season was switched to linebacker where he quickly excelled. He was considered to be one of the top linebacker prospects for the 2014 NFL Draft and was chosen by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round, 9th overall. He signed a four-year contract with the Vikings for $12.7 million with a $7.6 million signing bonus. At the end of his rookie season he had a total of 70 combined tackles, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, and 3 pass deflections. In 2019 he almost signed with the New York Jets, but changed his mind and re-signed with the Vikings for a five year contract for $67.5 million with $33 million guaranteed.
