Young Guru

Young Guru is the stage name of the American DJ, record producer and audio engineer Gimel Androus Keaton, born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 27, 1974. He has worked with many big named artists and in 2011 received a Grammy Award for his work on the Jay-Z and Alicia Keys song “Empire State of Mind.” He started working as a DJ while still a teenager and used his piano skills to get into making music. Guru has worked with and shaped many artists careers over the years, including Method Man, Rihanna, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Ludacris, T.I. and many more and works with record companies like Def Jam, It’s a Wonderful World Music Group, and Roc-A-Fella Records. He has done the most work with Jay-Z, mixing 10 of his 11 albums and appearing in his documentary NY-Z. He also was the tour DJ for Jay-Z and Kanye West’s world tour Watch The Throne and Jay-Z’s tour 4:44.
