Wanda Jackson

Wanda Jackson is an American musician born in Maud, Oklahoma on October 20, 1937. She had a successful music career in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s and is known to many as the Queen of Rockabilly or the First Lady of Rockabilly. She started her career in 1954 after being discovered by Hank Thompson while singing on the radio. He invited her to perform with his band and she released several songs under their label. In 1956 she was signed with the label Capitol and released her first album with them in 1958 titled Wanda Jackson. She continued releasing albums like Right or Wong, Wonderful Wanda, Love Me Forever, Blues In My Heart, Reckless Love Affair, Cream of the Crop, Praise the Lord, and many more. In total she released 45 studio albums, 4 Live albums, and 22 compilation albums along with appearing on numerous other songs and albums. Throughout her career she was nominated and won a number of awards and in 2009 she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Early Influence category.
