Tamela Mann

Born June 9, 1966, in Fort Worth, TX, Tamela Mann is the youngest member of her family of 14 children. She was raised in a very religious household, an influence which led her to become a singer in the choir when she was just 12 years old. She became active in the gospel musical theater scene as a teenager, where her amazing talent for acting and singing was given the freedom to shine. Her big entry into fame was being cast in a number of Tyler Perry’s plays, such as I Can Do Bad All by Myself and Diary of a Mad Black Woman. She was even given the opportunity to act in the movie adaptation of Diary of a Mad Black Woman, which proved her talent on screen.

Tamela Mann finally released a solo album in 2005 entitled Gotta Keep Movin, and would go on to release The Master Plan in 2009 as well as Best Days in 2012. Master Plan went on to win the 2011 Traditional Gospel Album of the Year Dove Award. All totaled, she has sold hundreds of thousands of albums in the United States alone, actively supports the efforts of the American Diabetes Association, and is happily married to David Mann, who is an NAACP Image award recipient.
