Electro house musician and record producer Steve Aoki was born Steven Hiroyuki Aoiki on November 30, 1977, in Newport Beach, California. His father, known as Rocky Aoki, is the founder of the hibachi restaurant chain Benihana. As a college student, Steve Aoki began dabbling with record production and was able to begin his own label called Dim Mak Records in 1996.

In early 2008, Steve Aoki released his debut mix Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles, and later, he received airtime on the BBC Radio 1, both in 2008 and in 2012. Steve Aoki released his debut album Wonderland in January 2012, and guest appearances include LMFAO, Travis Barker, Will.I.Am, Kid Cudi, and others. Wonderland was later nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Dance Album. Steve Aoki is best known for his superb remixes of songs from artists such as Drake, Jackson 5, Lil Wayne, All American Rejects, and many more. To close out 2012, he released his EP It’s the End of the World as We Know It, followed by the 2014 EP A Light That Never Comes (Remixes).
