Scott Hamilton

Scott Hamilton is a retired American figure skater born in Bowling Green, Ohio on August 28, 1958. He is an Olympic gold medalist and has won four U.S. Championships and four World Championships. His signature move is a backflip and he is also known for his footwork sequences. He started skating at 13 years old and was training with the former Olympic champion Pierre Brunet. In 1980 he came in third in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and fifth in the 1980 Winter Olympics. The next year he came in first in the 1981 U.S. Championships and won gold in the World Figure Skating Championships. In 1982 and 1983 he won gold again at the U.S. Championships and a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics. In 1884 also won gold at the World Championships and gold at the U.S. Championships. That same year he turned professional. He went on to tour with the Ice Capades for two years and started Scott Hamilton’s American Tour which became Stars on Ice. He performed with Stars on Ice for 15 years and retired in 2001. In 1990 he was inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame.
