Minus The Bear

Minus the Bear is a five-piece indie rock band from Seattle, WA. The band consists of Jake Snider, Dave Knudson, Alex Rose, Cory Murchy, and Erin Tate. The band has released five studio albums since 2002, the first three under Suicide Squeeze Records and the final two under Dangerbird Records. Their first album to break the Billboard Top 200 charts was 2007’s Planet of Ice, peaking at number 74 on that chart and at number eight on the US Indie charts. Their latest release, 2012’s Infinity Overhead, peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Top 200 and number 7 on the US Indie charts. The band is known for its strange song titles, such as “Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!” and “I’m Totally Not Down With Rob’s Alien”. They played the 2010 SXSW festival as one of SPIN.com’s 50 Must-Hear Bands. The band’s name comes from a friend’s description of a date as being like the 70’s show T.J. and the Bear “minus the bear”.
