Matt Cardle, born as Matthew Sheridan Cardle on April 15th, 1983 in Southampton, England is an English singer and songwriter who began writing songs and playing the guitar at the age of 11. In 2005 Matt joined the rock band Darwyn. The group released an album called When You Wake and an EP called Little Sunlight.  In 2009 Matt joined the rock band Seven Summers. The group released a self-titled album in 2010 which peaked at number 30 on the UK Album Downloads Chart.

In 2010 Matt auditioned for the seventh season of The X Factor.  His audition song was a rendition of Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good.” He advanced to the live stages where he performed the songs “When Loves Takes Over” and “The First Time I Ever I Saw Your Face.” Matt went on to win the competition and released the single “When We Collide” which topped the UK Singles Chart in 2010.

In 2011 Matt released his debut album called Letters through Columbia Records.  The album contained songs written by songwriters Eg White and James Walsh. The album charted in at number 25 on the UK Albums Chart. In 2012 he signed with the label So What Recordings and released his second album The Fire. The album debuted at number 8 on the UK Album Chart. Matt would release two more albums up to 2015 called Porcelain and Memphis.
