Jack Russell’s Great White

Jack Russell’s Great White

Jack Russell’s Great White, as one might guess, is actually the glam rock band Great White after they broke up but with some members still touring. This began in 2010 when Jack Russel was out for medical leave and Jani Lane of glam rock band Warrant filled in; later Paul Shortino of glam rock band Quiet Riot filled in at a festival. When Jack Russel recovered, he got a license to tour with his own version of Great White. Band members of the original seem nonplussed at this move.

Great White became near-legendary in 1989 for their hit “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” even though it only charted to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, because it received extensive airplay. They did have substantial showing on the charts throughout the 1980s and the occasional mark in the 1990s, with back-to-back platinum certifications for the albums “Once Bitten” and “Twice Shy.” But glam rock’s ship sailed at the beginning of the 1990s and hasn’t returned to port since.
