Ian Carey

Ian Carey, also known as Ian 45 Carey, Illicit Funk, and The Ian Carey Project, was born in Maryland, U.S.A and is currently based in Miami, Florida. He is an American DJ, musician, and producer specializing in the house and electro genres. Ian got his taste for music production from his father who was a live sound engineer for acts such as Kool & The Gang and The Duke Ellington Orchestra. He began to DJ out of college in 1993. Working in collaboration with DJ Jason Brooks as part of the group Soul Providers, Ian produced his first single called “Rise.” The single reached number 59 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2002 he moved to the Netherlands and produced his single called “Get Shaky.” The single was released on the EP called The Ian Carey Project. “Get Shaky” peaked at number 2 on the Australian charts and came in the Top 10 in the UK, Belgium, and New Zealand charts. In  2009 the song won an MTV Australia Award for Best Dance Video.
