Heather Headley

Heather Headley is a Trinidad-born actress and songstress based out of Indiana. Her love of music began early in life when she sang and played piano at her father’s church. In 2000, Headley won the Tony Award for Best Performance By A Leading Actress (Musical) and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress In A Musical, for her starring role in the play “Aida.” That same year, she was listed in People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People, and Essence Magazine’s 30 Women To Watch.

When Headley released her debut album, This Is Who I Am, in 2002, two singles debuted in the top five on both the R&B and dance charts. The album also won two awards at the prestigious Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards. Her second album’s title track, In My Mind, emerged at number one on the dance charts. Headley’s third album, Audience of One, was her first foray into the world of professional gospel music. The album won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album.
