Glen Hansard

Glen Hansard

Glen Hansard is a multi-talented performer from Ireland, better known as the front man for the indie rock band The Frames, as well as being half of the folk rock band The Swell Season. Hansard dropped out of school as a youngster to busk on the streets full time. He founded The Frames in 1990, releasing their first studio album “Another Love Song” which charted #77 on the Irish Albums chart, and by 2004 their fifth album “Burn the Maps” had scored #1.

Hansard has also released albums within his solo efforts, with “Rhythm and Repose” (2012) charting #3 on Irish Albums and selling 70K in the US alone. He’s also acted in roles for the films “The Commitments” and “Once,” winning an Oscar Award for “Best Original Song,” which was his single “Falling Slowly.” Winning a Grammy as well for “Best Musical Theater Album” for “Once” as a stage musical makes Glen Hansard one of the few performers to have both an Oscar and a Grammy.
