Flying Lotus

Musician and rapper Steven Ellison, more commonly known by his stage name of Flying Lotus, was born on October 7, 1983, in Los Angeles, California. Ellison’s great-uncle was legendary jazz saxophonist John Coltrane, and music therefore runs in his family. He was signed to Warp Records in 2007, debuting with his EP Reset EP, which he followed with the release of Los Angeles in 2008. His third album, however, which was entitled Cosmogramma, was recognized at the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards for the Dance/Electronica Album of 2011.

Flying Lotus also adds to his resume film scoring, and is recognized for his song “About that time/A glitch is a glitch” for the animated series Adventure Time. Ellison later released the albums Until the Quiet Comes as well as Duality, both in 2012.
