Fatoumata Diawara
Fatoumata Diawara is a Malian singer, songwriter, and actress born in Mali in 1982. Diawara moved to France to pursue an acting career. She made her debut in film in 1996 in the movie Taafe Fanga and continued landing roles in the films La Genèse, Sia, le reve du python, il va pleuvoir sur Conakry, Encourage, Ni brune et blonde, Les Contes de la Nuit, The Africa Express, Timbuktu (Le chagrin des oiseaux), Morbayassa, Mali Blues, and Yao. In 1998 she made her debut in theater in the production Antigone and has also had roles in the productions Royal de Luxe and Kirikou et Karaba. As a recording artist, she released her debut EP in 2011 titled Kanou EP. That same year she released her debut studio album titled Fatou and has since released the albums At Home – Live in Marciac and Fenfo ( Something To Say). In 2019 she received two Grammy nominations for Best World Music Album for her album Fenfo and Best Dance Recording for Ultimatum featuring the band Disclosure.
