David Banner

Born Lavell William Crump on April 11, 1974, David Banner rose to fame as a rapper and record producer. Though he graduated from Southern University in Florida with a degree in business, he eventually went on to pursue a career in music, and in 1999, he released Grey Skies together with fellow rapper Kamikaze. The next year, David Banner released his debut album Them Firewater Boyz, Vol. 1, a solo endeavor which he put out through Big Face Records. The album generated enough of a buzz to catch the eye of Universal Records, and David Banner was quickly signed to their subsidiary SRC Records. Under this label, he released Mississippi: The Album in 2003, followed by MTA2: Baptized in Dirty Water. Two years later, David Banner made available his third album Certified, whose single “Play” went to the #7 slot on the Hot 100 Chart. He would later release the albums The Greatest Story Ever Told in 2008 and MTA3: The Trinity Movement in 2014.
