Christafari

Christafari is a Gospel Reggae band founded in 1989 by Pastor Mark Mohr. The band’s name came when a friend of the Pastor’s joked “so you’re not Rastafarian anymore, you’re Christafarian.” Coincidentally, the pastor knew the term Christifarian was also a Biblical Greek word meaning “a group of people who collectively represent Christ.” Those two things combined caused the name to stick.

Christafari has traveled the world to play their music as part of a mission to spread the word of Christ.

In 2004, Christafari was awarded several awards from the Urban Gospel International Awards, including ‘Best Artist/Group of the Year,’ ‘Album of the Year,’ and ‘Producer of The Year.’ In 2012, they were the first gospel artist to reach the number one spot on the Billboard’s Reggae charts with their album, Reggae Worship: A Roots Revival. Other albums include: Valley of Decision (1996), WorDsound&power (1999), The First Fruits of Christafari (2000), Gravity (2003), Gravitational Dub (2005), and To The Foundation (2007).
