Antony ”El Mayimbe” Santos
Antony Santos is a Dominican bachata musician born in the Dominican Republic on May 5, 1967. He is known for his romantic music with hits like “Me Enamore”, “Voy Pa Lla”, and “Muchos Cambios.” He started his music career playing the guira for Luis Vargas. He left the group to start a solo career and quickly became the leading bachata musician helping the genre become mainstream. Santos released his first album in 1992 titled La Chupadera and over the course of his career released more than thirty albums, including La Batalla, Sabor Latino, Como Te Voy a Dejar, Enamorado, El Balazo, Sin Ti, Lloro, Un Muerto Vivo, El Diablo Soy Yo, Vete, Vuelve Amor: Grabado En Vivo, and many more. He has worked with the labels Platano Record, Premium Latin Music, and DASM. In 1996 he has a documentary made about him by Frédéric Pelle, self titled Antony Santos.
