Andrea Bocelli

Andrea Bocelli is a classical and popular Italian composer who is one of the most celebrated living classical musicians in the world. Born into a wine-making family in Tuscany, Italy, he was stricken with a congenital birth defect making him blind since age twelve, by which age he had already mastered piano, flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, and drums. By his teen years he was performing and winning competitions.

A short list of Andrea Bocelli’s awards and honors includes: Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song (“The Prayer”), a listing in the Guinness Book of World Records for holding #1 on all three US Classical charts, Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and Order of Merit of Duarte, Sanchez and Mella, star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to theater, two Billboard Latin Music Awards, six Classical BRIT Awards, and seven World Music Awards.
