Marie Kondo

Marie Kondo is a Japanese author, organizing consultant, YouTuber, and social media influencer born in Tokyo, Japan on October 9, 1984. From a young age she had a love for organizing and instead of playing in her physical education class, she would be in the classroom organizing the book shelves. For five years she was an attendant maiden at a Shinto shrine. At 19 years old she started her organizing consulting business. Her method of organization is the KonMari method, where you gather all your belongings and keep only what sparks joy, then organizing the remaining items. In 2011 she published her first book titled The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. She has published four books on organizing that have sold millions of copies. A television film was made on Kondo and her work titled Jinsei ga Tokimeku no Maho in 2013. She started her YouTube channel in 2017 and has amassed a following of 265k followers with over 2.5 million video views. She also has a large following on social media with 3 million followers on Instagram, 20k followers on Facebook, and 12k followers on Twitter.
