Jason Isbell
Jason Isbell was born on February 1, 1979 in Green Hill, Alabama. He is a Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and guitarist. Isbell started playing in a garage band and country cover band as a teenager with his friend, songwriter Chris Tompkins, and performed at the Grand Ole Opry at 16. Isbell attended, but did not graduate from, The University of Memphis, where he studied English and Creative Writing. He submitted demos and earned a publishing deal with FAME Studios out of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and worked for FAME until he joined the Drive-by Truckers, then moved to a solo career.
