Take That

Take That

One of the most successful boy bands to come out of the 1990s, the group Take That was formed in 1990 in Manchester, England, by Mark Own, Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Howard Donald, and Robbie Williams. Their first major success was the release of their cover of the song “It Only Takes a Minute”, which shot up to the #7 slot on the UK charts. This accomplishment was followed by two singles entitled “I Found Heaven” and “A Million Love Songs”, which counted in the top 20 hits of the UK in 1992. They released to their eager fans their first album, Take That & Party in 1992, followed by their sophomore album Everything Changes in 1993. This album including songs which were written by bandmate Gary Barlow.

They released their third album, Nobody Else, in 1995, which featured their best-selling single “Back to Good”. This track rose to #1 in a total of 31 countries around the world, and served as their entrance onto the U.S. music scene. Member Robbie Williams, however, announced that he would be leaving the band in 1995 and would therefore not continue to tour with the group. Although Take That split up in 1996, they reformed a decade later and put out the single “Patience”, which climbed up to the #1 slot in the UK. That album, Beautiful World, was the 4th best-selling album of 2007, proving that the band had not lost their loyal fan base.
