Slightly Stoopid
Slightly Stoopid was formed in 1994 in Ocean Beach, California by childhood friends Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald. The band is known for its rock, reggae, blues, hip-hop, metal and funk mix of sounds. They were initially influenced by bands like Sublime, Operation Ivy, Rancid, and Streetwise but then managed to create their own unique sound. Though they have released eight studio albums, Slightly Stoopid is known for their near-constant touring. They actively toured for a decade. The band is currently made up of Miles Doughty, Kyle McDonald on guitar, bass, and vocals; Ryan Moran on drums; Oguer Ocon on percussion and harp; Daniel “Dela” Delacruz on saxophone; Paul Wolstencroft on keyboards; and Andy Geib on trombone. Special guest Karl Denson often tours with the group on saxophone.
They were signed to Skunk Records while still in high school and in 1996 released their first album, Slightly $toopid. In 2001, they self-released their second album, Acoustic Roots: Live and Direct. This album was a 40 minute acoustic set and was the first album released on their new label, Stoopid Records. In 2003, they released their third studio album, Everything You Need, on Surfdog Records. 2005’s Closer to the Sun, their fourth studio album, debuted on the Billboard Top 200. They released their fifth album Chronchitis in 2007. It debuted at #55 on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the indie charts. Their sixth studio album entitled Slightly Not Stoned Enough to Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid was released in 2008 on their Stoopid Records label. It was followed by 2012’s Top of the World and 2015’s Meanwhile…Back at the Lab.
