Simone Biles

Simone Biles is an American artistic gymnast born in Columbus, Ohio on March 14, 1997. Biles has won four gold medals and one bronze medal competing in the Olympics. She set an American record for most gold medals in women’s gymnastics at a single Olympic Games. She is the most decorated American gymnast and the third most decorated female gymnast of all time. As a female gymnast, she has the most World all-around titles with 4 and the most total World medals with 20. She is considered to be one of the best gymnasts in history. She started gymnastics at 6 years old and by 8 was training with coach Aimee Boorman. She competed for the first time in 2011 at the American Classic in Houston, Texas and placed third all-around, first on vault and balance beam, fourth on floor, and eighth on uneven bars. She made her senior international debut in March 2013 at the American Cup. In 2016 she was named to the American team for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. At the Olympics, she won gold in the all-around, vault, and floor and bronze in the balance beam competition. She won another gold medal with the American team that was given the nickname the Final Five. In 2016 she published the autobiography Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance.
