Shane Carruth

Shane Carruth was born on Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on January 1, 1972. His first foray in the world of film was in 2004 with the sci-fi film Primer. His entry won the Alfred P. Sloan Award and the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Another film Upstream Color won a Special Jury Prize in Sundance in 2013. Upstream Color also won the Jury Award from the Calgary Underground Film Festival. Carruth also served as the producer for both entries.

He also directed the TV series documentary Breakthrough in 2017. He serves as the producer for The Dead Center and the associate producer for The Wanting Mare. He is also the composer for the 2016 TV series The Girlfriend Experience which aired in 2016.
