Royce Gracie is a Brazilian semi-retired professional mixed martial artist born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on December 12, 1966. He is considered to be one of the most influential fighters in MMA history and popularized Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He was the first fighter to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. He became well known after winning UFC 1, UFC 2, and UFC 4 between 1993 and 1994. He came in a draw with Ken Shamrock in the championship match in the Super Fight at UFC 5. Gracie confirmed his retirement from competing in mixed martial arts on November 15, 2013. On February 19, 2016 Gracie came out of retirement to fight his rival Ken Shamrock in a trilogy fight at Bellator 149. In 2013 he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the World MMA Awards.
