Robert Cray

On August 1, 1953, Robert Cray, a blues musician, was born in Columbus Georgia. He was a member of the Robert Cray Band. He released his debut album, Who’s Been Talkin, in 1980.

His breakthrough album which contains the track “Smoking Gun,” Strong Persuader, was released in 1986. This album also received a Grammy award.

Other albums he released include I Was Warned, Take Your Shoes Off, Twenty, and Time Will Tell. Aside from releasing his own music, he has also collaborated by big names in the industry such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, and Eric Clapton. He was inducted in the Blues Hall of Fame in 2011 and in 2017, he was awarded the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance.
