Phillip Phillips

Winner of the 11th season of American Idol Phillip Phillips was born in Albany, Georgia, on September 20, 1990. He learned how to play the guitar when he was 14 years old, and a few years later, he got together with two of his brothers-in-law to form the Phillip Phillips Band. The band was a local hit, and after Phillips was not chosen to appear on the finals of America’s Got Talent, he tried out for American Idol. After winning against Jessica Sanchez in 2012, he toured with the Top 10 contestants from the show, and later released his coronation song “Home”, which sold more than 4 million copies in the U.S.

Phillip Phillips spent the rest of the year working on his debut album, which was entitled The World from the Side of the Moon, and went Platinum in less than a year. He spent the latter half of 2013 touring with John Mayer before touring solo in North America. He released his second album Behind the Light in May of 2014. Phillips has been nominated for a number of awards, including Choice Love Song for “Home” at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, World’s Best Male Artist at the 2013 World Music Awards, and New Artist of the Year at the 2013 American Music Awards.
