Mary Lambert

Singer-songwriter and spoken word artist Mary Lambert was born Mary Danielle Lambert on May 3, 1989 in Everett, Washington. She taught herself to play piano and write songs at the age of six. In 2007, she moved to Seattle and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition at Cornish College of the Arts. During that time, she represented, Seattle at the Brave New Voices International Poetry Competition, which was filmed for HBO, and also competed at the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational.

In 2012, Lambert co-wrote and was featured on the single “Same Love” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, which became a Top Ten single in six countries. In January of 2013, she independently released a book of poetry titled 500 Tips for Fat Girls; that summer, she released her debut single “She Keeps Me Warm” which samples the chorus she wrote for “Same Love.” Capitol Records released Lambert’s first major label EP Welcome to the Age of My Body on December 17, 2013. In March of 2014, Lambert announced she would be touring with Gavin DeGraw and Matt Nathanson.

On October 14, 2014, Lambert released her debut album Heart on My Sleeve.
