Marvin Winans

Marvin Lawrence Winans was born on March 5, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan. He began singing with his brothers and some other friends in the 1970s when they created their band called The Testimonial Singers. They later changed this name to The Winans. They were discovered by fellow gospel music guru Andraé Crouch, which is how they became so popular.

Marvin’s 1985 hit Bring Back the Days of Yea and Nay won him a Grammy award for Best Male Soul Gospel Performance. He released Alone, But Not Alone, in 2007, which was his first solo album. He created Marvin L Winans Presents The Praise and Worship Experience on his own label in 2012 and continues to make music now. The Winan brothers had the honor of performing their song Tomorrow at the late Whitney Houston’s funeral in 2012.
