Machel Montano
Machel Montano is a Trinidadian soca singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor born in Carenage, Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago on November 24, 1974. He is the front-man for the soca band The HD Family. He is one of the best known soca artists in the world and has has been performing for over 30 years. Montano started his career at 9 years old when he became well known for singing “Too Young to Soca.” At 11 years old he appeared on the popular television show Star Search in 1986. In 1987 he became the youngest finalist to win the Caribbean Song Festival at 12 years old. He released his first studio album in 1985 titled Too Young to Soca? and has since released the solo albums Soca Earthquake, Dr. Carnival, One Step Ahead!, Heavenly Drum, The Return, The Book of Angels, Album 34, Double M, Happiest Man Alive, Monk Monte, Monk Evolution and many more.
