Rapper and comedian Lil’ Dicky was born David Burd on March 15, 1988 in Cheltenham Township, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Richmond, and after graduating, he moved to San Francisco to work in account management for an advertising agency. During his time there, he was moved to their creative department after doing his progress report as a rap video.

Lil’ Dicky began his rapping career in order to gain attention to his comedic writing. His debut mixtape, “So Hard,” was released in April 2013, and the music video for the song “Ex-Boyfriend” went viral overnight on Youtube. It recorded over one million views in 24 hours. He released a new song or video once a week for five months straight until he ran out of money. By reaching out to his fans via a Kickstarter campaign in November 2013, he raised $113,000 to continue his rap career. In February 2014, he played his first concert at TLA in Philadelphia and signed with CMSN. His debut album, “Professional Rapper,” was released in July 2015 and features appearances from Snoop Dogg, T-Pain, Fetty Wap, and Hannibal Buress.
