Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs is an American actor and singer born in New York City, New York on September 4, 1953. He is best known for appearing in the films and television shows Cooley High, Roots, Claudine, Bangers and Mash, Welcome Back, Kotter, and The Jacksons: An American Dream. Jacobs studied acting at the Negro Ensemble Company and the Al Fann Theatrical Ensemble. He made his debut in film in 1974 in the movie Claudine and continued landing roles in the films Death Wish, Youngblood, Paramedics, The Annihilators, Kill Crazy, Angels of the City, Quietfire, Thursday Never Comes, Indecent Behavior, Mr. Right Now!, Southlander, Sublime, Otis, Nocturnal Agony and others. In 1975 he made his debut on television in the show Welcome Back, Kotter and has since had roles in the shows Baretta, Fame, Roots, Alien Nation, Pointman, Roseanne, Moesha, Martin, Gilmore Girls, Sliders, Chuck, Let’s Stay Together, and more. He has also had roles in the stage productions I Love My Wife, Deadwood Dick, Legend Of The West, Delirious, Ceremonies in Dark Old Men, Mr. Right Now!, and I Can Do Bad All By Myself. In 1981 he sang on Rick James’ album Street Songs.
