Kenneth Bruce Gorelick, AKA Kenny G, was born on June 5, 1956 in Seattle, Washington. During a teenager and before he went solo, he was in bands including Cold, Bold, and Together as well as The Jeff Lorber Fusion.

He gained success early, signing with Arista Records after the president of the label noticed him. In the mid-1980’s, he released his album Duotones, which included his popular song Songbird. This song as well as others like Don’t Make Me Wait for Love made it into the top 5 on several Billboard charts and the Hot 100 chart.

In the 1990’s, he continued to make music, including music for films such as Bodyguard, which featured the late Whitney Houston. His 1992 album Breathless ended up being best-selling instrumental album in history. A huge accomplishment of Kenny G’s occurred when he won a spot in the 1997 Guinness Book of World Records for his circular breathing skills. His 1999 Christmas album was the best selling Christmas album of the year. He continues to make music including his 2010 album Heart and Soul, and he hosts a radio show in Orlando, Florida. He also made a 2017 appearance in the Netflix show Michael Bolton’s Big, Sexy Valentine’s Day Special.
