Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez was born on August 9, 1972 in Carolina del Príncipe, Antioquia, Colombia. He is better known as Juanes, which is an abbreviation derived from Juan and Vásquez. Juanes is a Colombian musician, architect, and songwriter. He was one member of the rock band Ekhymosis and he is presently performing as a solo artist.

Juan has won two Grammy Awards and twenty Latin Grammy Awards. These were for works such as Best Latin Pop Album – Juanes MTV Unplugged  (2003) and Best Latin Pop Album – La Vida… Es un Ratico (2009). He was also nominated for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album (3x) and Best Latin Pop Album. For the Latin Grammy Awards, he won Best New Artist – Juanes (2001), Best Rock Solo Vocal Album- Fíjate Bien (2001), Best Rock Song – “Fíjate Bien” (2001), and Best Rock Song – “A Dios le Pido” (2002). Juan was also awarded other things from 2003 to 2014 including Best Long Form Music Video, Best Short Form Music Video, Best Male Pop Vocal Album and Best Rock Solo Vocal Album.
