Jonathan Batiste is an American musician, bandleader, and television personality born in Kenner, Louisiana on November 11, 1986. He frequently tours with his band Stay Human and has performed in over 40 countries. He is also their band leader and music director on The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert. Batiste serves as the Music Director of The Atlantic and the Creative director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. At 8 years old he played drums and percussion in his family’s band the Batiste Brothers Band. He switched to playing piano at 11 years old. Batiste received his bachelors and masters degree from the Juilliard School. In 2005 he released his debut studio album titled Times in New Orleans and has since released the albums In the Night, The Amazing Jon Batiste!, My N.Y. EP, The Late Night Show EP, Hollywood Africans, Christmas with Jon Batiste, Music of Johnny Lewis and others. Batiste helped to create the band Stay Human in 2005. In 2014 they performed on The Colbert Report and in 2015 it was announced that Stay Human would become the house band on The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert.
