John Waters

John Waters is an American film director, screenwriter, actor, author, comedian, journalist, and art collector, born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 22, 1946. he became well known in the 1970s for his transgressive cult films. In 1964 he released his first short film titled Hag in a Black Leather Jacket and has since released the short films Roman Candles, Eat Your Makeup, and The Diane Linkletter Story. In 1969 he released his first full length film that he wrote, produced, and directed titled Mondo Trasho and continued releasing films like Multiple Maniacs, Female Trouble, Desperate Living, Polyester, Hairspray and more. He has also acted in a number of films and television shows like Seed of Chucky, Homer and Eddie, Something Wild, Excision, The Blacklist, My Name is Earl, 21 Jump Street, Homicide: Life on the Street and others. He has made appearances on a number of documentaries like Biography, Divine Trash, Beautiful Darling, The Incredibly Strange Film Show, Mansome, Of Dolls and Murder, SexTV, Intimate Portrait, This Film Is Not Yet Rated and many more. Waters has written several books, including Shock Value., Role Models., Car Sick: John Waters Hitchhikes Across America, Make Trouble and others. Throughout his career he has been nominated for several awards and has won the Filmmaker on the Edge Award and was named an Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
