Jared Leto was born on December 26, 1971 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He got his break on the drama My So-Called Life in 1994. He made his film debut in Cool and the Crazy in 1995 and had roles in How to Make an American Quilt and The Last of the High Kings. He earned critical acclaim for his spot-on performance in Prefontaine in 1997. He had a role in The Thin Red Line, which garnered a great deal of praise and a cast award. In 1998, he started the band Thirty Seconds to Mars, but continued acting, landing roles in Girl, Interrupted, Fight Club, Black and White and American Psycho. He played a heroin addict in Requiem for a Dream and earned critical acclaim for his dedication to the role. Leto had a role in 2004’s Alexander and in 2005 he starred in Lord of War.
He played the lead role in Chapter 27 in 2007, then starred in the short film A Beautiful Lie in 2008. He played the lead in the science fiction movie Mr. Nobody in 2009, which earned him critical acclaim for his many roles in the movie. He filmed several short films before returning to full-length films in 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club, which earned him an Oscar, Golden Globe and SAG. He played the Joker in Suicide Squad in 2016.
