Jadeveon Clowney is an American professional football player born in Rock Hill, South Carolina on February 14, 1993. He is currently an outside linebacker for the Houston Texans of the National Football League. Clowney played football in high school at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina for the South Pointe Stallions football team. He went on to play college football at the University of South Carolina for the South Carolina Gamecocks football team from 2011 to 2013. In 2014 he was selected by the Houston Texans as the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was signed to a four-year contract worth $22 million with a signing bonus of $14.5 million. He made his NFL debut on September 7, 2014 against the Washington Redskins. The Texans picked up the fifth-year option on his contract in 2017. In 2019 the Texans placed the franchise tag on Clowney. Throughout his career NFL he has recorded 205 tackles, 29 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 6 fumble recoveries, 11 pass deflections, and 2 defensive touchdowns.
