Gena Rowlands

Gena Rowlands was born on June 19, 1930 in Madison, Wisconsin. She was born Virginia Cathryn Rowland. She began her career on Broadway in The Seven Year Itch. She has had a successful stage, film, and television career. She has won four Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.

In 1958, she began her film career in The High Cost of Loving. She has had roles in over fifty films. These films include Shadows, Laramie-The Run to Tumavaca, Lonely are the Brave, The Spiral Road, A Child is Waiting, Tony Rome, Faces, Machine Gun McCain, Minnie and Moskowitz, A Woman Under the Influence, Two-Minute Warning, I’m Almost Not Crazy: John Cassavetes, the Man and His Work, Something To Talk About, The Neon Bible, Unhook the Stars, She’s So Lovely, The Mighty, Playing by Heart, Olive, Yellow, Parts Per Billion, Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, and Unfortunate Circumstances.

She has also had several roles in television movies and series. She has been in Nick Quarry, Circle of Fear, Medical Center, Marcus Welby M.D., Columbo, Faerie Tale Theater, Strangers: The Story of a Mother and Daughter, Montana, Crazy in Love, Face of a Stranger, Grace and Glorie, Best Friends for Life, Numb3rs, What if God were the Sun?, Monk, and NCIS.
