Gabriel Byrne

Gabriel Byrne is an Irish actor, writer, and film producer born in Dublin, Ireland on May 12, 1950. After graduating from college, he has several jobs before becoming an actor, including cook, Spanish and History teacher, and archaeologist. He started his acting career at the Focus Theatre and the Abbey Theatre in Dublin at 29 years old. In 1979 he joined the Royal Court Theatre in London. Byrne made his debut on television in 1978 in the television show The Riordans and continued landing roles in the shows Bracken, Strangers, Wagner, Screen Two, Madigan Men, In Treatment, Secret State, Vikings, Quirke, Marco Polo, Maniac, The War of the Worlds and more. He made his debut in film in 1978 in the movie On a Paving Stone Mounted and has since had roles in the films Hanna K., Reflections, Gothic, Lionheart, Hello Again, Siesta, The Courier, Dark Obsession, Into the West, Cool World, Point of No Return, Little Women, Dead Men, Mad Dog Time, This Is the Sea, Polish Wedding, and others. Throughout his career he has been nominated for a number of awards and has won a Tony Award, a Theatre World Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Fantasporto Award and more.
