Flo Rida

Rapper Flo Rida was born Tramar Dillard in Carol City, Florida, on September 16, 1979. He was born into a family of all women, growing up with seven sisters, and all of them including Flo Rida sang in a gospel music group. When he was a young teenager, Flo Rida and three of his friends formed a rap group, calling themselves the GroundHoggz. They recorded and performed together for a total of eight years before going their separate ways, and while Flo Rida was studying at Barry University, he was contacted by the label Poe Boy Entertainment, who was interested in his music. They signed him in 2006, and after meeting and working with artists such as T-Pain, Rick Ross, and Dre, he released his debut album Mail on Sunday in 2008. The first single to ever be released was “Low” with T-Pain, and charted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

One year later and after countless guest appearances on other tracks, such as those by Michelle Williams, Rick Ross, and Madonna, Flo Rida released his second studio album entitled R.O.O.T.S., which featured the hit single “Right Round” with Ke$ha. The album sold more than 55,000 copies the week it was released, and debuted at the #8 slot on the Billboard 200 chart. Flo Rida’s third album Only One Flo (Part 1) was released in late 2010, a few months after he debuted the single “Club Can’t Handle Me”, which appeared on the soundtrack for that year’s film Step Up 3D. A few months later, he created his label International Music Group, which has successfully signed a variety of rappers. He went on to release Wild Ones in 2012, followed by The Perfect 10 in 2014.
