Ermonela Jaho

Ermonela Jaho is an Albanian operatic soprano singer born in Tirana, Albania in 1974. Jaho started singing at six years old and studied at Liceu Artistik in Tirana. She went on to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana for a year before winning a competition and moving to Italy to study at the Academy of Mantova. She joined the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and studied piano and singing for five years. Jaho has sung at a number of opera houses worldwide, including Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, Arena di Verona, Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, Opera Australia, Staatsoper Vienna, Opera National de Paris, the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera in London and more. She has also won numerous singing competitions like the Giacomo Puccini competition in Milan in 1997, The Best Singer at the Wexford Festival in 2000, Zandonai in Roverto and others.
