Singer/songwriter Ella Henderson was born Gabriella Michelle Henderson on January 12, 1996 in Tetney, England. Inspired by listening to her grandfather’s record collection, she taught herself to sing, write poetry and play the piano before enrolling in a performing arts school at the age of 10. In 2012, she made it to the live finals of The X-Factor where she was expected to win but instead she came in 6th. Despite this, many record companies wanted to sign her to a contract but she eventually decided to sign with Simon Cowell’s label, SyCo.

In 2013, Henderson released several promotional songs on YouTube including a mashup of Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and John Newman’s “Love Me Again.” On June 9th, she appeared at the Capital Summertime Ball and sang a duet of “Beneath Your Beautiful” with Labrinth.

Henderson co-wrote the song “Ghost” with Ryan Tedder of One Republic and it was released as her first single on June 8, 2014. Her second single “Glow” was released on October 5, 2014 and was co-written by Camille Purcell. Both of these songs will appear on her first album, Chapter One, which is scheduled for release on October 13, 2014. Chapter One will also feature songs co-written by Claude Kelly, Eg White, Salaam Remi and Babyface.
