Drew Brees

Drew Brees is an American professional football player born in Austin, Texas on January 15, 1979. He is currently a quarterback for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. Brees played football in high school at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas. In 1996 he was selected as Texas High School 5A Most Valuable Offensive Player. He went on to play college football at Purdue University from 1997 to 2000. While in college he set two NCAA records, 13 Big Ten Conference records, and 19 Purdue University Records. In 2001 he entered into the NFL Draft and was selected by the San Diego Chargers as the first pick in the second round. In 2004 he was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year. In 2006 he signed a six-year contract with the New Orleans Saints for $60 million. Brees became a Super Bowl Champion in the 2009 season when the Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV. He was awarded the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award. In 2012 he signed a 5-year extension contract with the Saints for $100 million with $60 million guaranteed, the most money guaranteed in NFL history. In 2018 he signed a two-year extension contract for $50 million. Throughout his NFL career he has recorded 9,783 passing attempts, 6,586 passing completions, and 74,437 passing yards. He has been considered on of the best quarterbacks of all time and is the holder of several NFL records, including most career passing yards, most career pass completions, most pass completions in a season among others.
