Donald Sutherland

Donald Sutherland was born on July 17, 1935. He started studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, but quit to study at Perth Repertory Theatre in Scotland. He worked small parts in the mid-1960s in television shows and films like The Sentimental Agent, Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors, The Saint and The Bedford Incident. His breakthrough came with his role in 1967’s The Dirty Dozen. He appeared in the movie MASH and Kelly’s Heroes. In 1970, he starred in Start the Revolution Without Me, and later appeared in Steelyard Blues and F.T.A. He gained leading man status in films such as Don’t Look Now, The Eagle Has Landed, Casanova and Eye of the Needle. He also appeared in Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1978. He appeared in National Lampoon’s Animal House in 1978 and earned critical acclaim for his roles in 1900 and Ordinary People.
He starred in A Dry White Season, Backdraft, Six Degrees of Separation, JFK, Disclosure, Outbreak and A Time to Kill throughout the 1990s. In the 200s, he starred in Cold Mountain, The Italian Job, Pride & Prejudice and The Pillars of the Earth. He appeared as the antagonist in The Hunger Games. He has performed voice work for several commercials and earned an honorary Oscar in 2017.
